Governance

CAP governance activities uphold the way decisions are made and implemented across the CAP confederation. This involves the processes, and actions embedded in the community agribusiness system, or approach. It covers the ways through which authority is exercised, resources managed, and policies determined across the entire entity.

This effective governance maintains transparency, accountability, and the sustainable functioning of the confederation internally to the farmer partners and owners and externally to its business partners.

Leveraging local M&E for global impact and learning

CAP is committed to results-driven management by establishing clear impact indicators and routinely tracking our progress towards achieving them. We implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track the outcomes and impacts of our projects. Field teams use baseline, mid-term, endline, and Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) surveys to assess behavioral change, and Gender, Equality, and Social Inclusion (GESI) surveys. Additionally, we routinely collect impact data through farmer focus groups and at the cooperative level. CAP's data-driven approach allows us to assess the effectiveness of our interventions and make necessary adjustments to enhance our programs within each country and globally. It also ensures that we are accountable to our beneficiaries and stakeholders for the results we promise. CAP practices mutual accountability by regularly reporting to our donors and local partners on the progress and outcomes of our projects. We also engage in transparent financial practices and external audits to ensure funds are used appropriately.

CAP supports the digitization and local ownership of data. We recognize that good and comprehensive data has meaningful value to stakeholders across the agriculture economy. Farming cooperatives that collect, manage, analyze and leverage their own data have more power in the ecosystem.  CAP promotes data digitization by providing training and access to new platforms and technology, empowering farming communities and cooperatives to collect data on their members and make more profitable business decisions.

Partnerships

CAP partners with farming communities, governments, the private sector, aligned non-profits and development agencies. . We strive to secure long-term and sustainable partnerships between farming communities and cooperatives, and other actors in the agricultural economy to increase productivity and the profitability of community agribusiness in East Africa. Our aim is that all partnerships are mutually beneficial throughout the duration of the relationships.

At CAP Global, we connect entities across sub-Saharan Africa, to facilitate collaboration and establish multi-country partnerships. We also work to bridge the gap between stakeholders in Europe, the US, and Africa. By collaborating with partners, we identify opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones through CAP's extensive network. This often leads to reduced transaction costs and overall improvements in the ease of doing business.
